Vintage decor, dim lights and portraits of historic Indian figures displayed throughout the restaurant, make Viceroy's ambiance quite unique. We'd visited on a Thursday evening and were told that the wait time for a table would be 45 minutes, but our table was ready in about 15 minutes nonetheless. We had their Hariyali chicken kebab, Angara tikka kebab and momo bhel alongside beer and wine, and got a chicken korma to go. The momo bhel was okay but the kababs and chicken korma were lip-smacking good. Would love to visit again.
Ive been wanting to try Viceroy since we moved to the area 5 years ago. Finally made it for an early dinner on a Sunday after we saw a show at the Carolina Theatre. My 9 year old loved the sausage roll, the butter chicken, and the mango lassi. I agree it was all good. Our waitress (I think Anna) was very friendly and I appreciated her thoughts on the menu even though my daughter ended up going with her Indian restaurant standbys. We will have to go back and try more of the menu and Anna's suggestions. We had an early reservation but by the time we left at 630pmish it was really busy. I liked the bar area and would def dine there if I were to come with my husband or a friend.

The food is amazing! Staff is accommodating and well versed in dishes offered as well as having fabulous recommendations. They do a great job describing spice levels and won't leave you disappointed. The drinks are fun and delicious too, you can tell the curators love what they do. We had Ki on a Friday night and she was the absolute best! You can't go wrong trying out the food here 10/10 would recommend. We've been multiple times and each time planned our next visit before leaving.
Cadbury rice pudding is really where this review needs to start and end. Divine. Excellent beer and wine and cocktail list too - but the star is the British style Indian food with a twist here and there. Service is excellent. A must visit in downtown Durham.
Beautiful ambiance. It was a very busy night- no tables but we were still sat immediately with options of both community and bar seating. Wonderful service-we had Aruna as a waitress-wonderful personality and very helpful! Great draft and cocktail selection (especially the cocktails, a classic but yet spiced and warm tasting). Bright appetizers, and the entrees were fantastic!!!! You cannot go wrong with Chicken Korma- warm and spiced with very tender chicken. All in all an amazing stop!

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. As soon as you walk in, it smells amazing. The chicken was one of the best that I had. Service was great and friendly and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
Fun supper club! Viceroy didn’t disappoint! Started off with some amazing drinks while sharing a paneer tikka dish + garlic naan. Then Curry for everyone!! Everything was sooo delicious.
Every bit of my experience was excellent, with special thanks to our server Doug. He made excellent recommendations and gave us impeccable service. My friend and I met for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We’d made a reservation but it wasn’t overwhelmingly busy so I’m not sure if we’d have needed one. We were seated at a table in the front corner, cozy and comfortable. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, and entrees but had no room left for dessert. Each course was excellent and there was plenty leftover for lunch the next day. I had pumpkin curry + chicken for my entree and at a medium spice level, it was perfect for me. I can’t wait to go back and try some more of their menu!
